How do I register my student?

New student registration takes place at your neighborhood school or online.

  1. Neighborhood School
    1. Call the school’s phone number and leave your name, phone number and email so that a staff member can contact you. You can find the list of schools here.
    2. Or, submit your information through our Contact Us formand we will connect you with the correct staff member.
  2. Online
    1. Go to our Student Registration page.
    2. Requesta Skyward login and password. This does not apply to guardians if you have a student currently enrolled in the district or in the past since your email address may already be on file.
    3. Log in with your login and password and select “Enrollment Access” in the Login Area.

When I entered my email address to request a Skyward login and password, I received an "Enrollment Not Submitted" message. What do I do now?

This usually indicates that your email address is already on file from requesting an online enrollment account, you may be a returning family from a prior enrollment or you may be a current or former employee. Click on the Forgot your Login/Passwordlink on the Skyward login page to retrieve your login and reset your password.

I forgot my login and/or password, but when I click on the Forgot your Login/Password link I received this message: "The email address you entered is not associated with any accounts." What do I do now?

You may be using a different email address or your email address was not on file. Please request a temporary login and password here.

How long will it take to complete enrollment?

The process will take approximately 20-30 minutes. You can save as you go and do not have to complete everything in one sitting. If you have to step away, however, for longer than 15 minutes, please save your data to ensure you don’t lose your data. You may be asked to log in again.

What documents will I need to complete registration?

The following documents are required to begin the enrollment process. Please either upload a legible copy of the documents below or bring them into the school. If you have any of the additional documents, you may also upload those here. If you would prefer to bring in these documents instead of uploading them, you can save this step and move on to Step 5. You will also need to provide a signed Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS) by uploading here or bringing to the school before your student can attend classes.

  1. Two forms of proof of residency (government mail, mortgage statement or homeowner’s insurance policy declaration, unexpired lease/rental agreement and/or utility bill dated within the last 2 months. Accepted utilities include water, sewer, gas, electricity or garbage. Cable internet and phone bills are not accepted.)
Unless a student is attending the Lake Washington School District on an Interdistrict Transfer or does not have a legal residence, residency in the Lake Washington School District must be established prior to enrolling a student. Residency is defined as the physical location of the student's principal abode e.g., the home, house, apartment, etc. where the student spends the majority of their time. This is generally defined as where the student spends the night a minimum of four nights out of the week. Owning or renting a house or renting an apartment in the District does not establish residency - the student and parent/guardian must physically live within the District.
For additional information regarding establishing residency and exceptions, visit the LWSD Registration page.
  2. Proof of child’s birth date, such as a birth certificate or passport
  3. Transcript or academic history - public, private or home school (if applicable). Students transferring from another school should bring academic records.

Why is the form putting the wrong grade in for my student?

The new student online registration process assigns students to the grade level that matchestheir date of birth. In the case of an incoming Kindergartener, the current grade level would be P4. There is no need to update the grade level as you have the opportunity to select which school year you are enrolling your student for. Once you select to enroll for the next school year, the system will automatically update the Expected Grade Level to next year’s grade level (in the case of an incoming Kindergartener, the Expected Grade Level will be K2).

Why are choice schools not available for me to select?

Choice schools and programs are open to all students in the district. Students may register first at their neighborhood school, then apply to be considered for enrollment in the school or program. Please refer to the Choice School pagefor application timelines.

I see my information is already in Step 2, but some of it has changed. Why can’t I change it?

For families who already have a student enrolled in the Lake Washington School District, your information will automatically prefill in Step 2. In the event any existing information is incorrect or has changed, the Registrar at your student’s school can change it. Please contact theschool in which you have a student attending to update any incorrect information. Those corrections will automatically update for all of your children.
